Youth Members of Totanhan Nakaha Lodge,
As we prepare for our upcoming Spring Induction Weekends, we are still missing one key element, and that is YOU! Youth staff are what make our Inductions possible and we are looking for any and all interested arrowmen to help make our Spring Inductions a success. We have a number of different positions that need to be filled, and have listed the most involved and needed positions below. For those interested in helping out at these crucial events in any way, we ask that you fill out the interest survey linked below.
Please note that:
- This survey is not a sign-up and saying yes does not guarantee you will be serving in that position.
- You can select multiple positions of interest, but you may not be able to do them all.
- Communication will be sent to the email you submit, so please check it.
- You don’t necessarily have to be available for any Spring Induction Weekends as we can still train staff for the fall.
Here is a link to the survey https://forms.gle/ETA3yXHTqhAchvNB6
I look forward to all the amazing work we will accomplish this Spring!

Position Descriptions
Luminary
The Luminary is the candidate guide throughout the induction weekend and is responsible for leading the crew through ceremonies, service, and guided reflection. This role will be replacing the former Elangomat role, but will be more intense than its predecessor. Luminaries should be outgoing people, willing to step outside of their comfort zone and able to keep a group of scouts cheerful and engaged. Luminaries will also need to be able to control groups of rowdy scouts and be able to take a serious tone during reflection times. Luminaries will attend several training sessions to learn how to execute their role prior to the event.
Ceremonies
The ceremonies team delivers all of the OA ceremonies throughout the weekend including the Ordeal ceremonies, Brotherhood ceremony, and Vigil ceremony. Ceremonialists should be comfortable in public speaking and able to project their voice so that all candidates can hear what is happening. They will also be expected to memorize their lines for whichever ceremony they are in.
For Brotherhood and Vigil Members Only
Brotherhood Staff (Nimat)
The Brotherhood team is responsible for delivering all aspects of the Brotherhood program except the ceremony. Those interested in assisting with the brotherhood program should be confident public speakers and presenters. They should also be able to take a serious tone with a group when leading a reflection. Brotherhood staff will be assisting candidates in learning the processes and traditions of the OA and will need to be familiar with them. This includes helping them memorize the obligation, admonition, handshake, and song . Arrowmen with a lot of OA and scouting experience make exceptional brotherhood staff, but any brotherhood member can be an effective staff.
