Feathers and Pins
This Feather and Pin recognition is designed to recognize those youth and adults that have given service during a ceremony and/or induction conclave at the chapter, constellation, or lodge level. The award is a uniquely-designed feather pocket flap with a variety of pins to be worn on the feather representing the individual’s role(s) in their induction conclave.

Youth Tenure Incentive Plan
The Youth Tenure Incentive Plan is designed to encourage youth in Lodge, Constellation and Chapter Leadership positions to be an active participant in their position. The award is a striking silver-lined lodge flap, and subsequent recognition is rewarded with bronze, silver, and gold moose pins to be worn on the lodge flap.

Lodge Roll of Honor
The Lodge Roll of Honor is conferred by the Lodge Executive Committee upon submission by any youth member of the lodge. This award recognizes individuals who have given exemplary service to the lodge.
Lodge Roll of Merit
The Lodge Roll of Merit is conferred by the Chapter Executive Committee upon suggestion by any youth member of the chapter. This award recognizes individuals who have given unusual or excellent service to the lodge.

OA Unit of Excellence
As the primary platform where the Scouting program is delivered to youth, the unit is the most vital and important level of the BSA for the Order of the Arrow to support.
The Order of the Arrow Unit of Excellence Award seeks to identify those units, and the leaders within them, who excel at incorporating the OA into their annual planning. This award is intended to provide a tool for lodges to recognize, incentivize, and operationalize unit-level participation in Order of the Arrow programs.

National Honors
Vigil Honor
Alertness to the needs of others is the mark of the Vigil Honor. It calls for an individual with an unusual awareness of the possibilities within each situation. The Vigil Honor is the highest honor that the Order of the Arrow can bestow upon its members for service to the lodge, the council, and Scouting. Membership cannot be won by a person’s conscious endeavors.
The Vigil Honor is a high mark of distinction and recognition reserved for those Arrowmen who, by reason of exceptional service, personal effort, and unselfish interest, have made distinguished contributions beyond the immediate responsibilities of their position of office to one or more of the following:
- Lodge
- Order of the Arrow
- Scouting community
- Scout Camp

2025 Vigil Nominations are due December 13th, 2024
Any member of the Order of the Arrow registered in Scouting and in good standing in a regularly chartered lodge is eligible for recommendation to the National Order of the Arrow Committee for elevation to the Vigil Honor provided that, at the time of the recommendation, the individual has been a Brotherhood member for a minimum of two years.

Founder's Award
Introduced at the 1981 National Order of the Arrow Conference, the Founder’s Award recognizes Arrowmen who have given outstanding service to their lodge. The award is reserved for an Arrowman who demonstrates that he or she personifies the spirit of selfless service, as advocated by founder E. Urner Goodman and cofounder Carroll A. Edson.
The award is a handsome bronze medallion bearing the likenesses of E. Urner Goodman and Carroll A. Edson, with a wooden base and a brass plate suitable for engraving. Available for uniform wear is a gold-colored arrow suspended from a red ribbon.
Lodges may petition the national Order of the Arrow committee to present between two and four awards annually, depending on the number of members in the lodge. If the lodge presents more than one award, at least one must be awarded to a youth under the age of 21.

Distinguished Service Award
The Order of the Arrow Distinguished Service Award was created in 1940 to honor those who rendered service to the Order beyond the lodge level. The award is presented to those Arrowmen who have rendered distinguished and outstanding service to the Order on a sectional, regional, or national basis. The award is presented every two to three years during the National Order of the Arrow Conference. Since the time the first awards were presented, less than 840 Distinguished Service Awards have been awarded. Nominations are submitted to Regional Scout Offices for consideration and approval.

Centurion Award
The Centurion Award highlights “Hometown Heroes,” or those Arrowmen who have meaningfully contributed to the forming, maturing and ongoing operational excellence of their local council’s lodge, and who, in doing so, have or will have inspired others to follow in their footsteps. This award is a one-time recognition associated with the centennial anniversary of the OA that is bestowed by the national Order of the Arrow committee. It is modeled after a similar program in the BSA’s 100th anniversary celebration, the 2010 National Hall of Leadership. Accordingly, this recognition is an opportunity to highlight lodge development over the last century and the many individuals, both youth and adult, who were instrumental to this success. Centurion Award honorees serve as exemplars of leadership, modeling to others a commitment to cheerful service as the Order of the Arrow enters its second century of service.
Centurion Award recipients may be living or deceased and have provided significant contributions to the lodge’s legacy. The minimum service period is 3 years for a youth or 6 years for an adult. Recipients of the award were provided with a certificate and recognition ribbon consisting of a red and white ribbon and a metallic totem symbolizing the centennial anniversary of the Order of the Arrow.
Over 1800 Arrowmen nationwide received the Centurion Award. Please join us in congratulating these individuals from our lodge for their exemplary leadership and commitment to cheerful service.

The James E. West Fellowship Award is a recognition authorized by the National Council, B.S.A. and presented by Northern Star Council to those who contribute $1,000 or more to Northern Star Council’s endowment fund through a West Fellowship.
James E. West was the first Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of America. West’s thirty-plus years of energy and leadership are largely responsible for developing the structure and momentum that Scouting has today.
The West Fellowship is recognized with a personalized 8×10 inch certificate, a distinctive lapel pin and an embroidered square knot.
Each year, Totanhan Nakaha Lodge recognizes OA members by funding one or more James E West fellowships. These deserving OA members have been honored with a James E West Fellowship awarded in their name.
