Welcome Order of the Arrow Candidates

Congratulations, you were chosen by your fellow Scouts to be a candidate for membership in the Order of the Arrow as part of Totanhan Nakaha Lodge, which is comprised of Scouting units in the Northern Star Scouting Council. The next step toward full membership in the Order is to attend one of our induction weekends hosted at our council camps. You must attend an induction weekend within 12 months of your election.

The Induction is a weekend experience in which those elected or selected learn about the customs and traditions of the Order of the Arrow and undertake a journey to discover the true meanings of leadership, cheerful service, and the Brotherhood of Scouting. You might think that this sounds like a lot to do. It is, but we have faith that you can do it.

When?

The Induction is offered at different times through the year. Specific dates and locations can be found on our Induction Conclave Information page. The induction weekend must be completed within 1 year of election for youth or nomination for adults. Please make every effort to attend one of the Induction weekends. If you cannot attend within 12 months, you must be re-elected and you must again meet the qualifications for that election.

The check-in time for each induction is shown on the conclave schedule. You must check in by the end of registration time. Late arrivals and walk-ins are unfortunately not permitted. You must stay until the end of the induction weekend. The activities throughout the weekend are designed to enrich your induction experience.

If the religious customs and observances of a candidate, such as Sabbath-observant Jewish Scouts or LDS Scouts, preclude attendance for part of the scheduled induction weekend, it is the candidate’s responsibility to contact the conclave adviser before the registration deadline for instructions on how to accommodate your needs.

What to bring:

Pack for this event like any weekend camping trip. Bring a tent, tarp, sleeping gear, rain gear, water bottle, full Class A uniform for your induction ceremony and work clothes for service projects during the weekend. You do not need any cooking gear as all meals are provided during the weekend. Please label your belongings. Please remember to stop for food as you head to camp. Dinner will not be served Friday evening. In addition, you must bring a BSA health form with parts A and B completed.

More information can be found on the Induction Conclave Information page.

Again, welcome to the Order of the Arrow, we look forward to you joining us.
