Totanhan Nakaha Lodge Begins Centennial Year

A Century of Service and Brotherhood

Join us this year in celebrating 100 years of Service and Brotherhood in Totanhan Nakaha Lodge.

  • Totanhan Nakaha Lodge is celebrating 100 years of Order of the Arrow in our council throughout 2024.
  • We were the first OA Lodge formed west of Chicago.
  • Over the years we have merged lodges and changed names, but always kept the Spirit of the Order alive Will have a special Centennial lodge flap, Anniversary Award, History Book, Celebration Event, and more.

Centennial Lodge Flap

As part of the celebration, a special 100 year lodge flap is available starting with the 2024 Spring conclaves.

All new Ordeal members will receive this flap. Other lodge members may purchase a flap from the trading post for $5.

Centennial Award

In celebration of our 100th anniversary, the Lodge has created the Totanhan Nakaha Lodge Centennial Award. This award is an opportunity to receive recognition for your involvement in our centennial activities. The Lodge encourages all members to earn the award. There are requirements for both youth and adult members. The requirements for earning the award are linked here.

Every member who completes the award is entitled to acquire two special gold-bordered versions of the Centennial Lodge Flap. These are only available to arrowmen who have completed the award.

Centennial Celebration Event

The highlight of our centennial year will be our big lodge centennial event coming August.

All current and former members of the Lodge along with special guests are invited to join in a weekend of celebration and fun. The celebration will take place August 23rd-25th 2024 at Phillippo Scout Camp. The weekend is planned to include typical camp activities (rifle range, swimming pool, climbing tower, etc.), Historical Displays, Memorabilia, our 2024 Vigil Induction, Fellowship activities, Rededication Ceremony, special recognition & much more!

Lodge History and Memorabilia Book

The lodge is creating a special history and memorabilia book covering our current and all predecessor lodges. The book will include information on significant lodge events, past lodge leaders, and the many memorabilia items issued over the decades. The book is expected to be released at the Lodge Centennial Event. You’ll want to see a copy when it’s available.

Lodge Centennial Display at the North Star Museum

Working with the North Star Museum of Boy Scouting and Girl Scouting, the Lodge is creating a special centennial display highlighting 100 years of Order of the Arrow in our council. This display is expected to be available beginning in June. Everyone is encouraged to go to the museum and see the artifacts and relics of our lodge.

Lodge Time Capsule

We are collecting items of significance for a lodge time capsule; this will include memories of the order of the arrow to pass on to the future. Watch for more details.

What sort of things will I need to do to complete the award?

The award covers involvement in Lodge and Chapter, service to your community and unit, personal growth and lodge history.

Can I count requirements that I completed in 2023 or 2025?

No. All requirements must be completed in the 2024 calendar year.

Do I need to be a member of the Lodge before beginning the requirements?

No.  If you completed a requirement between January 1 and December 31, 2024, and became a dues paid member in good standing later in the year, that’s OK.  For instance, if you attended the Fort Snelling National Cemetery Service Project in February, and became a member of the Lodge in May, you may count your service there as one of the two requirements for Service to your Community and Unit.

What is the Lodge Service Staff?

Totanhan Nakaha Lodge supports council activities by providing workers to assist at events.

I’ve completed the award; how do I claim my special flap?

An online form will be available in April 2024. Use this form to submit completed requirements. Once completed, you can order your award through the on line trading post.
